Ely Winter Fest 2013

One of our scheduled events was to visit the Snow Sculptures at the Winter Fest.

Gary and Nancy, you would think it was cold as bundled up as we were.

A Drive in the Cabin Road

The road to the cabin had been freshly plowed.
"I see the lake,  said Nancy, "but no water, only ice."
Tom had opened the Cabin, turned on the heat, and made a path for us.  Thanks Tom!
Just down the highway, we have several pictures of the National Forest sign but none as breathtaking as this!
More snow............no end to it.

Preparation for the Winterfest has begun. The first snow carving to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of snow carving was created in front of the Front Porch. The carving was inspired by the Winterfest Pin. The carving team was Nancy Scheibe, Kit Wilson, Pam Davis and Greg Knipe.

Mrs Birch Looses her Leaves

As we start to close the cabin for the winter we see a big change in the weather, the ducks start to gather in preparation to go south.  By the early October Mrs Birch looses all her leaves and the tamaracks turn golden.  It is time now to leave the North Woods to return another spring.

Fall 2012

Phil came up in Mid-September to help get the toys put away for the season.  In doing so, we make that last trip out for some fishing.  Shown here is a catch and release Large Mouth, good catch Phil!
